About Us

This primarily rheumatology practice has been located in the Crossroads Medical Building in Ellicott City, MD since 1991.  Over that 22 years, we have registered over 70,000 patients, most of whom have been referred by primary care physicians from the greater Baltimore and central Maryland region although it is not uncommon to see patients from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Washington, DC, and Delaware.


Paul A. Gertler, MD 
(adult rheumatology) graduated from University of Maryland Medical School and completed his Residency/Fellowship at George Washington University.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Adult Rheumatology.  He has been practicing clinical rheumatology in Baltimore and Ellicott City for 25 years. 

Stephen W. George, MD
 (adult & pediatric rheumatology) graduated from University of Maryland Medical School  in 1986 and completed his Residency/Fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.  He has been board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Adult Rheumatology, and Pediatric Rheumatology. In addition to this practice, Dr. George has been the head of the Pediatric Rheumatology Clinic at University of Maryland since 1996 through 2013.

Melissa Hawkins-Holt, MD 
(adult & pediatric rheumatology) graduated from University of Maryland Medical School where she also completed her Residency/Fellowship.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Rheumatology.  In addition to her private practice, she sees patients at the Pediatric Rheumatology Clinic at University of Maryland and will be taking over as the head of this clinic in 2014.

Thomas J. Lang, MD, PhD  
(adult rheumatology) graduated from University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. In addition he has been the Chief of Arthritis Clinic, Baltimore VA Medical Center and Director of Clinical Education, University of Maryland School of Medicine.. 

Moe T. Zan, MD (adult rheumatology) completed her Internal Medicine residency in Danbury, Conn. and Rheumatology fellowship at Dartmouth. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and has practiced clinical rheumatology at Dartmouth and Johns Hopkins. . 

David Arconti, PA-C is a certified Physician Assistant who completed his education and training at De Sales University, then practiced inpatient hospitalist care at Franklin Square Hospital before joining ACS of Md in 2012.
